So, I don't think you need to buy a gift card to get the free coffee cards... I went into my local Starbucks today and asked about the promotion. They gave me a flier thing with 2 cards attached (one for me, one for a friend) - the cards are good every Wednesday, through May 28th, for a free cup of the new Pike Place Roast. They said these fliers were given away in the New York Times, but I'm not sure where else. Just ask your local Starbucks- they'll probably have some to give out!
